Evan Mathis contemplated retirement after winning the Super Bowl last season with the Broncos, but was open to continuing his football career in the right place with the right team.
Arizona and the Cardinals fit that criteria.
Mathis, an offensive lineman who lives in Scottsdale and owns a training facility there, signed a one-year deal with the team on Thursday, then met with reporters.
“I don’t have to pick up my family, move across country,” he said. “We can stay in our routine, do what we do. I’m really excited about it, for more reasons than that.
