Chris Johnson is on crutches, which means the Cardinals’ chances of doing much in the playoffs are hobbled, too, right?
No, they are not.
The Cardinals obviously are better with Johnson, who suffered a chip fracture of the left tibia against the 49ers last Sunday, than without him. But because of the position he plays and the way the roster is constructed, Johnson is replaceable.
This is not a backhanded slap at Johnson. Or even a forehand shot. He exceeded all expectations, and through the first two months of the season, gave the team a consistent big-play threat at running back, something the Cardinals have rarely possessed.
