The Cardinals didn’t hesitate when it came their turn to pick in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night, happily and quickly choosing former Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons with the No. 8 overall selection.
But unless they make a trade to move back in the second round on Friday, they could be in for a long wait before they get to pick again.
Presently, Arizona doesn’t have a pick in the second round. That’s troubling, too, considering how deep this year’s draft class is at multiple positions and how many highly rated prospects remain available heading into Day 2.
