WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.V. -- The Cardinals and defensive end Dwight Freeney have reached agreement on a one-year contract, according to an NFL source.
The deal is for the NFL minimum for a veteran of Freeney’s experience, $870,000 for a full season. Since Freeney has missed five games, that amount is decreased by about $256,000.
His one-year deal does include sack incentives.
Freeney, 35, has played 13 seasons, made the Pro Bowl seven times and was a first-team All Pro three times. He has 111.5 sacks in his career.
But he’s had just nine sacks in the past three years, including 3.
