Isaiah Simmons isn’t sure which one is thicker – the Cardinals’ playbook or the stacks upon stacks of new information the team keeps giving every player regarding COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
“With all these COVID mandates, I feel like it’s something new every day,” Simmons, the Cardinals’ rookie inside linebacker, said Wednesday during a video conference call. “One thing about the playbook is, it hasn’t really changed much.”
Neither, apparently, has the Cardinals’ plans for Simmons. The No.8 overall pick in this year’s draft out of Clemson, Simmons said he’s still being trained exclusively at inside linebacker and that – for now, at least – it doesn’t appear he’ll get the chance to play multiple positions like he did in college.
