The Cardinals are hiring the special teams coach from Vanderbilt who this past season helped Sarah Fuller become the first woman to play in a college football game for a Power Five conference team.
According to a report by ESPN’s Field Yates, the Cardinals are bringing in Devin Fitzsimmons to serve as an assistant under Jeff Rodgers, the team’s assistant head coach and special teams coordinator. A vacancy opened last month when special teams assistant Derius Swinton II left the Cardinals to become special teams coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Cardinals have not yet formally announced the hiring of Fitzsimmons, who prior to spending the past two seasons at Vanderbilt, served as a special teams assistant for the Detroit Lions from 2014-2018.
