Not much was expected from the Cardinals offense on Sunday, and yet it failed miserably to reach even that low standard in the 17-3 loss to the Lions.
The Cardinals could make excuses. Four rookies started, including three on the offensive line and one at quarterback. Another rookie, receiver Christian Kirk, suffered a season-ending injury last week. The starting right tackle, Joe Barksdale, joined the. team on Wednesday.
Only the delusional thought the Cardinals had a chance to join the NFL’s offensive revolution Sunday, even though they were playing the Lions. But it didn’t take a hallucination to envision them beating the Lions, who are nearly as bad on offense as the Cardinals.
