The Arizona Cardinals introduced Jen Welter on Tuesday at a news conference at their training facility in Tempe.
It is believed that Welter has become the first woman to hold a coaching position of any kind in the NFL.
Welter will work with the team’s inside linebackers throughout training camp and the preseason as an intern coach. She is one of seven coaching interns working with the team.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians says that intern coaches "are not here to watch" and that they will work on the field with players.
