The Cardinals went with a familiar name in the second round of Friday's NFL draft, taking wide receiver Christian Kirk of Texas A&M with their second-round pick.
Kirk is from the Valley and went to high school at Scottsdale Saguaro.
In college, he proved to be a dynamic receiver and return man, and was regarded as one of the top wideouts available. He steps into a receiving corps that, behind Larry Fitzgerald, needed some beefing up.
"I don’t do anything to be average," Kirk said at the Scouting combine in February. "I didn’t want to go to college and just be another guy, another college football player.
