KANSAS CITY – Two months of ineptness by the Cardinals offense has lowered expectations so far that 13 or so minutes of competence against the Chiefs on Sunday was like watching someone crack an enemy code.
Holes were opened. Passed completed. Third downs converted. And two touchdowns were scored.
Then, nothing. The Cardinals reverted to the form that’s produced a 2-7 record, losing to the Chiefs, 26-14.
It wasn’t embarrassing, not even close. The Cardinals trailed by only six points when rookie quarterback Josh Rosen’s attempt at a screen pass was intercepted in the fourth quarter, setting up the Chiefs’ only score of the second half.
