Kerwynn Williams remains atop the Cardinals running back depth chart, but Chris Johnson is likely to carry the ball more against the Cowboys Monday night than any other back.
Against the Colts last Sunday, Johnson gained 44 yards on 11 attempts, a 4-yard average, while everyone else collectively averaged 2.6-yards a carry. Johnson had a 21-yard run negated by a holding penalty. He also had the Cardinals’ longest run, 11 yards.
That doesn’t mean, however, that Johnson is going to become a workhorse and get 20 or so carries a game.
“Since he’s been within this system with us, he hasn’t gotten 25 to 30 carries a game,” quarterback Carson Palmer said.
