The Arizona Cardinals re-signed 14 players to the practice squad Sunday, all 14 of whom were released Saturday when the Cardinals trimmed their roster to 53. That continuity speaks in part to a deeper advantage this season of players who are already familiar with a team.
The group includes linebacker Evan Weaver, the team's sixth-round draft pick in 2020, and running back D.J. Foster, a product of Arizona State. The Cardinals also brought back two cornerbacks to the practice squad in Chris Jones and Jace Whittaker.
To adjust for potential positive cases of coronavirus, practice squad rosters were expanded to a maximum of 16 players.
