The league has some explaining to do when the season is said and done, besides some egregious officiating gaffes here and there, how two divisions in football can be both so very bad, in this age of parity, that it is very likely that at least one, and maybe two, under .500 division winners could make it into the playoffs this year.
Both the NFC East and the AFC South have non-winning teams currently in first place. Granted the Colts and Texans are tied at 6-6, but that isn’t a winning record. The NFC East has three teams tied at 5-7, with the Redskins on the tiebreaker as the defacto division “leader” right not, and the Cowboys, at 4-8 are just a game out of first place.
