Arizona Cardinals' play-calling is all about the wristband, my man

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians’ offensive system is massive and as complex as any in the NFL. Yet, on game days it’s reduced to the size of a wristband worn on the quarterback’s left forearm.

Every week, between 150 and 180 play calls are squeezed onto three small pages, and on game day quarterback Carson Palmer looks at his left wrist as often as someone late for an appointment.

Arians has used a variation of this system since he coached in college.

“There is some long verbiage in some plays,” he said. “This way, you don't have to say all of it and have him say, ‘Give it to me again.
