Five years ago, the Cardinals were coming off disappointing seasons and their search for a new coach was hampered by uncertainty at quarterback.
That’s also the case now as they look for the successor to Bruce Arians.
This is their second consecutive season out of the playoffs. Carson Palmer is expected to announce a decision about his future soon, and it’s questionable if a 38-year-old quarterback wants to start over again with a new coach and possibly a new offense.
It's also possible the Cardinals are ready to move on from Palmer and save $14 million against the 2018 salary cap.
