You don’t need pyrotechnic machines to play with fire. The Cardinals didn’t on Sunday and they still got burned.
Things started well enough for the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium, where the pregame fire cannons were missing just like they were in every NFL city hosting a game in Week 3. A pyro mishap in Nashville last Sunday prompted an investigation by the NFL and a temporary ban on all firework-type displays.
Now it’s the Cardinals who will be holding an in-house inquiry after watching the Carolina Panthers break open a close game and torch them, 38-20, keeping Arizona winless at 0-2-1 after the first three weeks of the season.
