Patrick Peterson makes statement on suspension Patrick Breen, Arizona Republic
When the Cardinals restructured the contract of outside linebacker Chandler Jones to free up an additional $4 million in salary cap space, it wasn’t necessarily done with the intent of using that money to immediately acquire another player.
Though reports and rumors have linked the Cardinals to trade talk involving Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Redskins left tackle Trent Williams, the genesis behind the Jones’ contract conversion has more to do with potential future signings in case of an emergency and because it also offers the team an avenue to possibly re-sign one or two of its own players.
