Robert Alford may have been “gone,” but he never really left.
Despite missing the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons with the Cardinals upon suffering back-to-back season-ending injuries in training camp, the veteran cornerback chose to stick around and be as close to the team as possible the past two years.
He sat in on meetings, attended practices and participated in film study. He was also there to lend an experienced ear to younger players, especially the defensive backs, and offer encouraging motivation to everyone. It was his way of being able to contribute to the cause and now, after returning from a fractured leg and a torn pectoral muscle, Alford is ready to begin yet another comeback.
