In today's Arizona Cardinals news update, the Arizona Cardinals may have a relatively secret weapon in their wide receiving corps after signing Ted Ginn to a three-year contract in free agency this offseason.
Per Jess Root of SBNation.com, "Ginn is doing well so far in his role on the team, where he is pegged to be the team's third receiver, replacing Andre Roberts. Ginn, though, doesn't have a ton of NFL experience at receiver, according to head coach Bruce Arians,"
Ginn has mainly been used as a kick returner for the majority of his NFL career. However, Arians sees a ton of potential in Ginn when it comes to adding big-play ability to the team's passing game:
“He doesn’t have that much experience as a wideout surprisingly; I have no idea why," Arians stated. "Most of his years were kick returning other than a couple of years in Miami. He’s been an outstanding route runner and catching the ball really well. He just adds speed to the core where we haven’t had much speed.”
Ginn's speed has never been in question, nor his ability to run routes. It's questions about his hands which have kept him on special teams at most times - something which seems to be clearing up as Ginn continues to impress during offseason activities.
