Don't count the Arizona Cardinals out on some of the big names slated to hit free agency on March 10th, especially if the Cards can land a veteran name like 49ers RB Frank Gore on a cost-effective deal.
Here's ESPN's Josh Weinfuss with his thoughts on how the Arizona Cardinals may attack free agency next month:
The way that general manager Steve Keim and coach Bruce Arians operate is that they'll take a shot at the big names if they're affordable. But with how the market for major names has been the last few years, it's unlikely the Cardinals will be willing to pay top dollar for a big name - unless they're in a position of extreme need, such as Jared Veldheer last season at left tackle. I think running back, inside linebacker and pass rusher are the two most extreme needs - meaning a back such as Mark Ingram, Darren McFadden or Frank Gore could draw some interest from the Cardinals, or a pass-rusher like Jerry Hughes. There aren't any big-name inside linebackers whom the Cardinals would want to pursue and pay accordingly.
The running back position has major potential to be extremely deep on this year's free agent market, so it's conceivable that Arizona could land a marquee name for less money than one would expect.
