The Arizona Cardinals are 4-1, with their only loss coming in a nail-biter against the St. Louis Rams. The Cardinals have best point differential, by a pretty substantial margin, and are a major threat in the NFC. Here are three reasons why Cardinals fans can start thinking Super Bowl.
Healthy Carson Palmer
The Cardinals weren't the same when Palmer went down last season and his return has been a massive boost to the offense. He's completing 65 percent of his passes with 13 TDs and 3 INTs. He's leaned heavily on Larry Fitzgerald, who has had a resurgence this season. With a healthy Palmer, the Cardinals can make a Super Bowl run.
Three-headed Rushing Attack
When Andre Ellington went down with an injury, it was understandable if Cardinals fans were worried about their ground game. However, Ellington missing a few weeks has provided a chance for Chris Johnson and David Johnson to shine. Both Johnsons are averaging 5.1 yards per carry, with Johnson getting the bulk of the carries. David Johnson has been an impact player, proving to be a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball. Ellington is back now, and he gives the Cardinals three dangerous backs.
Defense That Forces Turnovers
The Cardinals have whopping 11 INTs, three more than any other team in the NFL. The secondary is loaded with talent and make it difficult for opposing defenses to pass the ball. The Cardinals have actually been a bit unlucky in the fumble department, recovering only two of the seven they've forced. Defense win championships and if the Cardinals keep forcing turnovers, even at a lesser rate, they'll be Super Bowl contenders.
