The Arizona Cardinals have started this season with three impressive victories, and though they are coming off a disappointing loss to the Rams, they've proen they're one of the best teams in the NFL. They sit alone at the top of the NFC West, and have their sights set on winning the division and making the playoffs. However, we're going a step further. Here are three reasons why the Cardinals are legitimate Super Bowl contenders:
3) Elite secondary
Patrick Peterson is one of the best CBs in the NFL, and still hasn't reached his ceiling. Justin Bethel could be in for a breakout season, and the safety position is deep and talented with Tony Jefferson, Rashad Johnson, and Tyann Mathieu, who forces turnovers and makes plays all over the field. There's also last year's first-round pick, Deone Bucannon, who has looked better this season. In a pass-happy league, Arizona has the best group of players to defend it.
2) Bruce Arian's greatness
One of the most respected and offbeat head coaches in the entire NFL, there's no denying the hold Arians has on the locker room. He's a master game-planner with a unique ability to accentuate positives and paper over weaknesses. Just look at all the adversity he pulled the Cards through just to get them to the playoffs last season. Ordinary coaches would have buckled. Arians is not an ordinary coach.
1) Healthy Carson Palmer
Arizona fell apart down the stretch last season when Palmer went down with a knee injury, proving that he's the most valuable player on the roster. He's come back stronger than ever and has been the best quarterback in the league so far in 2015, throwing for 1,155 yards and 10 touchdowns. As a result, the Cardinals have the league's second-best offense (37 points per game) to go along with their dominant defense. If they can keep this up, no team in the league will stand between them and the Lombardi Trophy.
