CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Appalachian State University wrestling had three wrestlers battle for placing in the Southern Scuffle to start the new year, with sophomore placing seventh in the 149-pound weight class.
Against a field of 23, the 17th-ranked Mountaineers (7-2, 3-0 Southern Conference) finished with a team score of 36 to end the two-day event 14th overall, the second-highest representative of the SoCon with the host team Mocs placing just three spots higher.
Zovistoski led all Mountaineers with a 6-2 record, getting key wins against Alex Butler of Missouri, Joe Oliva of Penn State and Nick Montgomery of Cleveland State.
