BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis turned in a strong showing on the first day of the ITA Carolina Regional Championship hosted by North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Three players in Teodora Sevo, Kate Earnhardt and Jeannez Daniel each picked up a pair of wins to insert themselves into the main draws, while María José Zacarias had a first-round bye. It's the most players the Mountaineers have ever entered in the main draw in ITA Regionals
Zacarias will have the test of facing the top overall seed in Marie Leduc of Clemson, while Earnhardt will take on Filippa Ericson from Charleston Southern.
