BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball freshman guard Tierra Wilson was named College Sports Madness Sun Belt Player of the Week on Monday.
Wilson earns the award after averaging 21.5 points per game on an impressive 73.7 percent shooting from the field (14-of-19) and 76.9 percent (10-for-13) from beyond the arc. The freshman guard scored a game-high 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and 5-for-8 from deep while dishing out three assists in 39 minutes in the Apps' first home win of the season over Georgia State, 77-62. Wilson followed up that performance with a game-best 21 points on a perfect 7-for-7 and 5-of-5 beyond the arc in the 87-56 blowout win over Georgia Southern to finish the weekend at 2-0 for the first time since 2015-16 and move to .
