BOONE, N.C. — Responsible for the league's most complete and dominant mound performance of the season, Appalachian State freshman Tyler Tuthill was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
In throwing the only nine-inning shutout by a Sun Belt pitcher this season, Tuthill faced only four batters over the minimum during a 6-0 win Saturday against UTA, which was leading the league prior to App State's weekend sweep.
The left-handed Tuthill allowed four hits, struck out a career-high eight batters and issued no walks in his 94-pitch complete game.
