NEW ORLEANS – Following a stellar sophomore season capped by a runner-up finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, Appalachian State's Tripp Summerlin was voted to the All-Sun Belt second team by the league's men's golf coaches, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Summerlin finished his 2017-18 season with four top-two finishes in 11 tournaments. He was first at the Sept. 25-26 Patriot Intercollegiate, second at the Oct. 2-3 Cleveland State Invitational and second at the March 11-12 Cape Fear National Intercollegiate.
A native of Summerfield, N.C., Summerlin is the first App State golfer to finish top 10 at the Sun Belt Championship and led the Mountaineers to their best team finish since joining the league.
