BLACKSBURG, Va. – The App State women's track and field team capped the first day of competition at Virginia Tech's Doc Hale Meet on Friday. The Mountaineers tallied nine top-20 finishes on the day and recorded movement in the program all-time list in several events.
Sophomore Ava Studney clinched first in the women's unseeded pole vault, clearing a personal-best height of 4.00m (13' 1.5"). Studney, who previously stood fifth in the App State all-time list, launched to second, tying Taylor Drummonds' mark, which was set in 2017. Graduate student Noelle Meeker took 11th with a season best of 3.
