CHARLESTON, S.C. – The App State softball team split the opening day of the Charleston Invitational, falling to Bradley, 2-0 in the first game and defeating Charleston Southern, 2-0 in the second game. Senior Sydney Holland threw her third complete game shutout against Charleston Southern, moving to 5-0 on the season.
Against the Buccaneers, Holland gave up two hits and struck out six in her fifth win. The senior now has a team-best 0.20 ERA and 27 strikeouts on the year.
The Mountaineers (8-3) scored both of their runs in the top of the sixth off a hit and two errors.
