GREENSBORO, N.C. – The App State softball team opened the 2020 Spartan Classic with a victory, taking down Oakland, 4-3. The Mountaineers battled back from a three-run deficit to post their 10th win of the season.
Oakland score all three of its runs in the first inning, scoring off two ground outs and a single. The runners for Oakland reached base off two singles and a walk. App State starter Kenzie Longanecker was able to work out of the inning with a strikeout.
The Mountaineers began the comeback in the third inning, as Mary Pierce Barnes walked to start the inning.
