HIGH POINT, N.C. - Facing a hot High Point (7-1) team on Tuesday evening, Appalachian State University men's soccer (5-2-1) fell to the Panthers, 2-0, at Vert Stadium.
App State went up against an HPU squad that came into the week ranked just out of the top 25 at 29th in the nation and had outscored its previous two opponents, 5-1.
The Mountaineers outshot the hosts, 10-9, but HPU held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal. Appalachian also posted a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
App played right with HPU in the first period outside of a penalty kick Illias Kosmidis that gave the Panthers their first goal of the contest to take a 1-0 lead.
