HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- App State men's basketball begins conference play on the road against the two top-ranked NET teams in the Sun Belt, beginning with Marshall on Thursday night before Saturday's game at Southern Miss. This is Game Number 2,500 for the App State men's basketball team, dating back to the 1919-20 season.
Thursday's game will be a battle between the top two shot-blocking freshmen in the country. Marshall's Micah Handlogten ranks seventh in the nation in blocks (34), first among freshmen and first in the Sun Belt. Justin Abson ranks 14th in the nation, second among freshmen, second in the Sun Belt and first among all players in the nation who are 6'9" or shorter.
