Mountaineers Tie Program Record Win Streak in Undefeated Weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Appalachian State (8-3) overcame Marshall with a score of 2-1 in the final game of the Holy City Showdown on Sunday. This win ties the longest winning streak in program history that was previously set last season.

The Apps' defense stepped up in tough scenarios against the Thundering Herd during Sunday's game. Junior Caylie Kifer was unstoppable at shortstop with several diving plays to keep the Herd off the bases. A 1-6-3 double play in the top made for the Apps' second double play of the weekend.

Russell's double down the left field line and a single from White on the right side allowed the Mountaineers to score their first run in the bottom of the third inning.
