BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University wrestling had five student-athletes place in its fifth annual Appalachian Open on Saturday at Varsity Gym.
Appalachian wrestlers were joined on the mats by Virginia, Campbell, Ohio, Campbell, Chattanooga, Gardner-Webb, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, NC State, North Carolina, West Virginia, Duke, The Citadel, and Limestone College.
The Mountaineers (11-2, 5-0 Southern Conference) were led by Laken Cook, Demazio Samuel, Angel Najar, Alan Clothier and Cary Miller on the day, all placing in the top four.
