BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State volleyball moved into first place in the Sun Belt East Division with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-14 sweep of Coastal Carolina on Friday evening inside the Holmes Center.
App State (14-7, 6-3 SBC) entered the contest sitting a half game behind the Chanticleers (6-10, 5-3 SBC). The two teams will square off again in Conway on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
The Black and Gold set the tone early, scoring the first five points of the match to jump out to a 5-0 lead. App State used a 5-1 run later in Set 1 to open a 16-7 advantage.
