LYNCHBURG, VA - The Appalachian State Mountaineers (31-25) fell to the George Washington Colonials (44-17) by a score of 1-2 on Friday in the elimination bracket of the NISC Liberty Regional.
With the loss, the Mountaineers' historic season comes to an official end. Appalachian reached 31 wins for only the second time in program history with a .554 winning percentage. It marks the second best record in App State history since the 2013 Appalachian State Southern Conference Champions.
The Mountaineers finished Sun Belt Conference play at 13-13 and earned the fifth seed in the conference tournament, their first birth in the Sun Belt tournament in program history.
