BOONE, N.C. – Forty minutes wasn't enough to settle one of the most competitive battles of the young college basketball season, as App State dropped a 78-76 overtime decision to Bowling Green at the Holmes Convocation Center on Monday night.
Graduate transfer Michael Almonacy converted a four-point play with 56 seconds left in regulation after being fouled on his made 3-pointer to tie the score at 69 apiece. Both teams failed to convert their subsequent attempts at the end of regulation.
The Mountaineers and Falcons traded baskets to start overtime. With Bowling Green up 77-73, Adrian Delph cut it to a one-point game with an off-balance 3-pointer from the corner with six seconds left.
