MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Appalachian State University field hockey used three goals in the second period to blow past Central Michigan 5-2 on Friday afternoon.
The Mountaineers (8-3, 1-2 MAC) clinched their first MAC triumph of the season with Friday's three-goal victory. Appalachian's eighth victory of the season also ties head coach Meghan Dawson's best win total as App State's head coach.
After junior Chloe Bell gave App State an early 1-0 lead, Central Michigan (2-9, 0-3 MAC) leveled the game at 1-1 midway through the first quarter. Appalachian then dominated the contest's second period, featuring a goal from junior Meghan Smart and a pair of goals from senior Ali Williams.
