BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University men’s tennis couldn’t capitalize on early doubles success in its home opener against UNC Asheville, falling 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.
“We’ve been playing really well at the doubles and we saw that again today,” said head coach Bob Lake. “But UNC Asheville is a really good indoor tennis team and it’s hard to hit around them. They played well.”
The Mountaineers (2-2) started off hot in doubles with No. 2 duo Scott Webster and Jan-Willem Kleynhans finishing first, taking their match 7-2.
