BOONE, N.C. – In one of the most highly anticipated games of the regular season, the App State Mountaineers claimed their first outright Sun Belt regular season title in 44 years, thrashing the Arkansas State Red Wolves 80-57 in front of 7,047 fans at the Holmes Center. It was an unbelievable scene in Boone as head coach Dustin Kerns and the team cut down the nets as outright champions for the first time ever as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
App State's (26-5, 16-2 SBC) win clinched the most regular season wins in program history with 26 while also securing the best season in conference play in program history.
