BOONE, N.C. – The App State women's basketball team closed out nonconference action with a thrilling 87-81 victory over Gardner-Webb (8-4) at Holmes Convocation Center on Tuesday. The Mountaineers will enter Sun Belt play with a 4-7 record after snapping GWU's three-game win-streak.
Five Mountaineers scored in double figures and were led by freshman Chaé Harris, who netted 17 points on 7-of-12 from the field and 3-of-4 from the 3-point line. Redshirt senior Janay Sanders added 16 points (including half of her scoring from the free-throw line) and scored a huge three-point play to ice the game in the final seconds.
