Racecar drivers and fans gathered this past weekend for another Saturday evening of racing at the Mountain View Speedway in the High Country Fairgrounds off of Roby Greene Road in Boone.
Billed as a family-friendly, alcohol-free event, the one-quarter-mile Mountain View Speedway re-opened last summer after a nearly 20-year hiatus. Racing takes place each Saturday and generally ends before 10 p.m.
This past Saturday, April 23, benefited the Aldridge family of Foscoe, who lost their eldest child, Brandon H. Aldridge, 16, in a car accident on March 13. It was also Hometown Heroes Night in honor of military, fire, EMS and police personnel.
