Men's Tennis Suffers 4-3 Decision to Winthrop

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University (10-9) fell to Winthrop (8-6) on Sunday afternoon in a heartbreaking 4-3 decision at Varsity Courts.

App State showcased a valiant effort as it was trailing 3-1 in the midst of singles play before winning two straight contests to tie it up, 3-3. However, Winthrop claimed the last affair to pick up the win.

The Mountaineers earned the doubles point with two victories by their top two tandems.

Ben Webster/Alex Pavkovich downed Connor Williamson/Aditya Gokahle via 6-4 win to improve to 12-5 on the season.
