WILMINGTON, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis opened up the 2018 campaign on Saturday with a 5-2 loss to UNC Wilmington at the UNCW Tennis Complex.
The Mountaineers (0-1) secured the doubles point for an early 1-0 advantage, but dropped five singles match to give UNCW its second victory of the year.
Scott Webster and Milo Bargeron, the No. 1 Appalachian tandem that posted a team-best 9-3 mark a year ago, continued their doubles success with a 6-4 defeat of Ignasi De Ruedo and Raphael Calzi. Minutes later, Campbell Stone and Spencer Brown clinched the doubles victory with their own 6-4 win over Andres Torres and Gio Araujo.
