BOONE, N.C. – The Appalachian State men's soccer team took a 3-0 victory over Howard Wednesday night in the opening round of the Sun Belt Men's Soccer Championship. The Mountaineers advance to the semifinals and are set to take on the No. 2 seed Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Friday at 7 p.m.
With the win, App State moves to 11-6-1, its highest win total since the 2002 season when the Mountaineers recorded 13 wins. Howard ends its season at 5-12-1.
"It was a highly contested match like they all are through the regular season and tournament.
