WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Appalachian State University men's golf completed the first round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate on Sunday. The Mountaineers finished day one in a tie for fourth place of 24 team after shooting 288 as a team.
The Kingsmill Intercollegiate features a large, highly-competitive field that includes schools from the Big Ten, SEC, and Big 12. The Mountaineers are tied with Loyola-Maryland in fourth. Tennessee leads the tournament with a team score of 284. Penn State and Dayton are tied for second at 287.
Chance Watson paved the way for the Mountaineers, firing an even-par 70 in the first round.
