BOONE, N.C. – App State senior Meghan Smart can add another accolade to her growing collection.
After the senior forward's breakout season on the pitch, she has earned All-South Region second-team honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
Smart is the fourth Mountaineer since 2001 to earn all-region distinction, according to NFHCA archives. Emily Walls earned the honor in 2002, Nara Brooks in 2003 and Veerle Van Heertum in 2018.
A native of Haddonfield, New Jersey, Smart led the Mid-American Conference with a career-high 12 goals and 28 points this spring on her way to becoming App State's first MAC Offensive Player of the Year honoree.
