Legendary Appalachian State University men’s basketball head coach Bobby Cremins was one of four individuals honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) at the 2015 Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival on Sunday, Dec. 6.
Cremins was honored during halftime of Sunday’s St. John’s-St. Francis game, which immediately preceeded Appalachian State’s showdown with Hofstra.
This year’s ECAC Legend’s Awards, presented by Webster Bank, went to Cremins, Craig “Speedy” Claxton, Jim O’Connell and Dennis McDermott.
At just 27 years of age, Cremins became one of the youngest NCAA Division I head coaches in history when he took over the reigns of the Appalachian State men’s basketball program in 1975.
