CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A pro-Mountaineer crowd of 3,175 turned out at BB&T BallPark in uptown Charlotte on Tuesday evening but red-hot Wake Forest ruined the party by handing Appalachian State University baseball a 10-7 defeat.
Wake Forest (27-17), which has claimed five wins over top 15 teams in the last 12 days, banged out 13 hits and won for the seventh time in eight games.
Things started well for the thousands of Mountaineer faithful in attendance, as Tyler Stroup led off with a double into the right-center field gap and scored on Brian Bauk's RBI single to give Appalachian State a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
