NEW ORLEANS – App State senior Helena Jansen has been named the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week after her standout performances in wins over South Alabama and Southern Miss last weekend.
The Mountaineers' No. 1 singles player all season long, Jansen had one of her best weekends to date. In a battle of two of the conference's best, Jansen came from behind to defeat 2022 all-conference honoree and reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Luminita Tutunaru of South Alabama. After trailing 3-0 early in the first set, Jansen fought back to win it 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker).
